21 Weeks

Things have been going great!
Kevin, Megan, and I are having a lot of fun together.
We are soaking in all the family time we have just the 3 of us... but also really eager to see our new little guy too.
Things have been going pretty smooth so far.
From the looks of things on the sonogram... this little boy is moving, flipping, and kicking around like crazy... but I don't feel it nearly as much as Megan. (She was a real bruser).
I'm sure he will make up for lost time soon enough.
Now that Megan's room is coming together...
I'm starting to think about the nursery.
I'm pretty sure it will have a plane or two in there.
We are still working on the names.
We've both lost a few favorites... but are tossing around 4 names we both like. Hopefully we'll make a decision soon. We'll keep you updated.

Can you say RAG - A - MUFFIN?

(In the words of a 1 yr old...)

"one mi-mi"... "two mi-mies"

How do you take away a girls best friend?
This is our girl on a typical morning... messy hair... PJ's... and a mi-mi or 2!

Not much can compete with a mi-mi!

Going through a purse is a close second!
She loves any make up bag!!!!

"What do you think of this color?"

"How does this look?"

I think we have room for improvement...

"This one is my favorite!"

"I'm pretty good with lip-liner!"
(only this is actually eye-liner)

"now I'm going to wipe my pacifier in my hair a few more times!"

(We have no idea why she loves wiping it on everything... gross... especially her hair... and Ruger's hair too!)

"... a BIG milestone in the Birkett home..."

Spring has arrived!
It's definitely Megan's BIG day!
We couldn't have asked for things to go any better.
She is officially taking her first nap in her big girl bed!
You know me... I always give the long version.
Here are some pics of whats been goin' on today.

... waking up from her LAST nap in her crib... Friday afternoon!

"Bye-Bye crib"

... last time waking up in her crib this morning.
Gammie and I sang her her "Goodmorning little sunshine" song... and pulled her out for the last time.
She was playing peek-a-boo through the slats!

The BIG event...
Daddy and Megan started taking apart the bed bright and early this morning. She was so excited to help out with the tools (loves playing with Daddy's tools)... that is until he actually took it apart.... and she cried a little. I think she was starting to get the whole idea. She was thinking... where the heck is all my furniture going?

She quickly got over it... when Daddy let her put it back together in "brother's" room.
"I think this piece should go here Daddy"

She loves the screwdriver! She's actually pretty handy with the tools!

She was watching every move... the delivery men made.
We sat outside and watched them unload the "BIG blue truck".
When they left she said... "bye-bye two men"!
I didn't know she new who "men" were.

we tried to stay out of the way while the brought in all the new furniture. She had a ball playing peek-a-boo around the oak tree... until she grabbed a hold of the huge glob of dripping sap on the tree behind her. (what a mess)

She ran straight into her bedroom... and climbed onto her new mattress!
She loved it!
She kept saying "night night."
She had to keep climbing up between Kev and I trying to put the mattress pad and sheets on. Now the big question... "will she stay in it long enough to sleep?"

This is her tree... finally completed!!!!
I started painting it for her in the fall... and didn't get around to putting leaves on it till just now.
Just in time for spring!
I painted Kevin and my initials in the trunk...
and she points to it saying "Mommy - Daddy - tree".
It was nice to finally see some furniture in there.

The furniture turned out great! We love it... thanks to Nana and B-pa!
They bought her big girl bed for her birthday (next month)... and the armoire for a very early Christmas present... since it was being delivered together.

"Here's Megan's BIG GIRL bed!"
I love the rug we found on a whim at target. It matched the tree perfectly.

Hooray! check out my new "crib"... "I'm a BIG girl now!"
Megan is very greatful... "Thanks Nana and B-pa"

Surprise!! I guessed wrong... It's definitely a BOY!

Well... Megan got to see the "baby movie" this morning. Kevin and I brought her to our 20 week check up today... and baby Birkett made HIS first DVD debut. She watched some of it... but also sat on Daddy's lap... wondered around the room... and ate snacks. She did great... but thought that my tummy had a "boo-boo" when the technician was doing the sonogram.

We got tons of pictures... but unfortunately my camera didn't want to take a picture of a picture very clearly today. Here is a shot of his little face. (so here are just a few) He was a busy little sucker. He was constantly moving... crossing his legs... putting his hands over his face... in his mouth... and flipping over.

Ta-Da! Kevin was playing with Megan when the technician said "and those are HIS BOY parts"... he didn't hear her at all. He was surprised too! Well... it's gonna take some getting use to... Megan is ALL girl... and I'm not familiar with these particular parts. Now it's time to really think of BOY names.

"Grow-ing along in February"

Havin' #2 in late July!!!!

17 weeks... and lots more to go! We are getting excited about our new little addition! We are just about at the halfway point now. Megan doesn't quite get it yet... we're going to explain it to her in a few months. Things seem to be going pretty good so far.

We have our 20 week ultrasound in 1 week and 5 days. It will be pretty cool to see if we'll have another girl... or a boy?! Heaven knows we have plenty of girl stuff... so we'll have to wait and see! Names are our next item of business! I'm ready to get it over with... but Kevin wants to wait to find out the sex. Hmmm... picking Megan's name was easy... but now what? We actually do have a few "very possibles" in mind. We'll keep you posted!

Evan's House is fun!!!!
(INSIDE and OUTSIDE)

"Caught playing Peek-a-boo under the blanket"
You'll have to excuse Megan for her "casual" attire.
Playtime = lounge time!

"Peek-a-boo"

Megan loves Evan's new ball pit!

"What a rag-a-muffin!" No pants... when you've got a hat!

We decided to have a little "snack" picnic outside in the yard.
Megan kept trying to hug Evan... but he was playing hard to get.
They both love it outside.
I'm pretty sure it is a close 2nd to the word "snack" in her daily vocabulary.

"Picking azalea bushes is serious business!"

They almost look like twins! It's so fun watching them grow up together!

A day in the life of Megan

"SNACK" has been echoing through our house for several months now! The girl loves to eat! This is a picture from Monday morning... a typical place to find Megan... in her seat... where she runs to sit down while you bring her her SNACK. She is a nut!

We've been doing pig tails all week... I put her "TIES"in... over and over... because she keeps pulling them out... and asking you to put them back in. She carries them around everywhere.

Potty training 101 has been okay. We've been doing it for about 10 days now... she either loves it... or hates it! She is so proud of herself when she tinkles in the potty... but when she doesn't want to sit there... you can forget it. She has good days and okay days... 5-8 times one day... then 2-3 times the next. (It doesn't help that she has a cold... and doesn't feel good)

"RECYCLING DAY"

We've been a bit behind returning our plastic bags to Publix!

"This one has something sticky on it!"

"These are all empty... where did all the SNACKS go?"

"Who needs leaves when you can play in grocery bags?"

"I think I can use this one for a purse!"

"Did we really have groceries in all these bags?"... YIKES!

"One can never have too many plastic bags!"... or can they?

Once we cleaned up all the bags... and took them to publix... to then purchase more food... and fill new bags... we came home to play play-doh! The girl loves the play-doh! We now have a nice turquoise spot on her beige carpet... oops... now we stick to the tile!!!!

"Girls weekend" Annual Mother/Daughter Scrapbooking Trip!

"Discovering waves"

Gammie and I took Megan over a day early... to have some quiet time on the beach. It was so cold... but really cozy with sweats on. Megan loved squeaking her shoes along the sand.

She... of coarse... loved the BUBBLES the waves made. She didn't however understand that more waves were coming. She just about got wiped out!!!!

She ended up packing her pockets with shells... which she referred to as ROCKS.

Megan was with us for Wed. and Thurs. night... and then got picked up on Fri. morning so that the big girls could have a mother/daughter scrapbook weekend. It was fun bringing her over... she is so much fun to hang out with.

The sunrise was awesome... everyday!!!! I took pictures each morning... for those who didn't wake up in time to watch it. The condo we stayed at was right on the beach. I was literally scrapbooking while checking out this beautiful view of the beach.

"Moms"

"Daughters"

Taylor had fun stirring up the sea gulls.
