"Weaddababyitsaboy"

Surprise!!! We're havin' our baby today!
Who knew? I was feelin' pretty crummy on Friday night... swollen, tired, big, etc. Little did I know the night was going to turn into a much longer one than expected.
I got up for my usual pee breaks... and soon realized... instead of every 1.5hr... they her every several minutes... and then... after long enough... I thought... hmm... maybe this isn't pee pressure... and then quickly followed with... Naaa...

well... 3 hours later the contractions were still coming every 5-6 minutes regularly... and Kev and I thought it was best to go to the hospital... considering we were scheduled for a c-section in 9 more days...

We got to the hospital at 5:45am... hooked up to the monitor... and finally... after several hours of contractions in triage (hoping they would just stop)... decided today was the day!

OK... here goes... 9 hours later... we are headed into surgery!

Welcome to the world little boy... ("hairy-headed little entry")

He's here!

"Meet our little baby boy!"
7lbs 10oz
20 1/2 inches
12:24pm Saturday July 18th

Surgery went great!!!! Much smoother and a lot less sick than last time!

... Our first few hours with little man!

Gammie was so excited to hold him!
He's so tiny!

We had lots of visitors over the last two days.
Uncle Gregg and Aunt Shell were over right away to see their new nephew... and Livy got to pop in for a fast visit too!

Joel got to meet him for the whole family... we miss you Jen and Evan... (away for the month... but will be back soon)

Chris and Nae (along with Joel and Shari...) came by to welcome him too! (Megan has recently started calling Renae... Uncle Nae)

Next was our big moment...

Big sister was so proud to meet her "tiny" new brother!!!! "Touch the baby" was a common phrase for the weekend! She loves him!!!! loves to kiss, hug, and especially man handle the little guy!

Megan was doing tickle, tickle, tickle!

Proud new Daddy!

... and Mommy!

Now we're a family of 4!
(Megan was going in for another hug!)

Nana and B-pa were lovin' up on their grandson too! Needless to say they were so excited!
Uncle Kyle and Jess came to play with him for a bit too!

Not a bad way to spend your Sunday afternoon!

Meet Jacob Gordon Birkett!
We couldn't have asked for a sweeter baby boy!
His Pop would be so proud!

... checkin' out all the tiny parts!

Monday morning... all packed and ready for home!

Ready for our first car ride... going home to our little girl... and big brother Ruger!

A BIG 4th of July Beach Weekend!

"1-2-3 Go"
Megan loved the pool! She kept jumping in for more!

Megan swiped Gammie's glasses!

This is Samuel pretending not to run on the cool decking at the pool!

Livy and her Aunt Stephie "attached at the hip"

Here is Kevin and Gregg headed in from fishing "early"... due to Kevin's bad luck! This is his 3rd time in a row being stopped by the Florida Wildlife Commission... They were basically missing everything they were supposed to have. No whistle... no flashlight or flare... and most importantly... no fishing license! OOPS!

Livy got to pop in for a quick ride too!

Megan went hunting for shell's each morning... mainly because its the best use of time at 6:00am... STINKER!
In her defense... it was a really nice time to be out on the beach.

We basically spent the entire day... everyday... swimming in the pool! It was so refreshing!!!! I could float all day...

Well... finally... no crying... she kept asking for more swimming! "I-a... again"
"1-2-3-16"... she kept going on 16 for some reason... we need to work on 4-5-6-7...
what a goof!

Steph kept the condo stocked with lots a yummy food and drinks... as always... she keeps you feeling like you're on vacation!

What better way to spend your 4th of July... at a fresh squeezed lemonade stand and Ice CREAM! Yummy... Megan wanted her own bowl with sprinkles on top!

You can't beat a good soft serve swirl cone! Mmm... Yummy!

Gammie taught Megan how to pull all the "hair" off the corn!

"I-a... a do it... Megan a BIG help!"
She carried them all the way into the kitchen to boil.

After our 3rd time swimming... we stopped by the grill to watch Daddy and Uncle Gregg cook our Kabobs! Megan was eying the ones down low!
Shell went down to the farmers market early that morning for the fresh veggies!

The teriyaki steaks were the hit of the Bar-B-Q!

Kevin and Gregg were eating more off the grill than they were bringing in "I think"!

Red - White - and Blue!

Gammie got the kiddos some American Flags to wave around...

Lovin' on her Daddy...
"like always"

Steph took Livy out for a quick boat ride before the fireworks started!
They saw TONS of manatees in the water!

You could see the fireworks right off the back porch! Megan had already gone to bed... but we felt guilty that she was missing out... so Daddy went in and surprised her... and let her wake up for all the pretty lights!
She kept calling them "FireTrucks"... and we repeatedly told her they were called "FireWORKS"... but cute and hard headed is still asking for more FireTrucks... days later!

I'm glad Daddy pulled her out of bed to see them... she really loved them... and it finished off our 4th of July just right!

Gregg, Shell, Livy and I shot some off in the parking lot after the big ones were done. They were "Florida" fireworks... so they of course all stayed on the ground!

Now we are back at home... and finishing the last of preparing for Baby Boy Birkett... who by the way... has not revealed his name to us yet. One thing is for sure... he will be named in 19 days or less... we are scheduled for delivery on Monday the 27th... so we'll have to wait and see? The Dr. says everything looks good so far... so aside from going into labor sooner... we are going to enjoy every minute with this baby girl of ours! Its tough to believe she is growing up... so for now... we'll enjoy her being the baby... until our newest one comes along! I'm really starting to get excited! We'll keep you posted!

Visit from Friends... and nursery!

Wow! Who would have guessed that 20 years later... we would really actually be having baby boys at the same time! Robyn and I met in the 6th grade... and as rare as it is these days... we've been friends the entire time! Robyn popped in for a fast visit today... and realized the next time we'll see each other... baby Birkett will be out of my tummy! ... so here is our belly shot... Robby is due Labor Day weekend with her 2nd little boy!

Earlier this morning... I got a visit from Katy... her 2 girls... and her Mommy! She is another friend from middle school. She was in our wedding too. I wish I could have gotten a picture with my camera... we got a nice one with hers.
It was nice seeing all of them... and even though Megan had several moments of FUSSINESS... the girls were pretty cute together... the hugs were so sweet even though they were usually following up behind some kind of abuse to each other. Kimbo wasn't able to make it... works too much... but we'll connect eventually.

Thanks for visiting girlies!

So... here is the nursery... so far! The airplane is coming along slowly... but is almost done! We're pretty much ready for this little guy now!... We just have to get him named... so I can paint is initials and birth date on the tail of the plane.

Gammie helped make the bumper and curtains!!! "Couldn't have gotten it done without you Mom!"

We'll keep you updated on the newest with baby boy... but for now... we are looking forward to a last family trip (the 3 of us)... enjoying our baby girl... and then welcoming #4 member shortly after!
